What’s different about Relentless Hockey than Other Online Training Services?


We’re committed to be the industry leader in Strength & Conditioning for hockey players (see question: What’s Different About Relentless Hockey?).

We built the Relentless Hockey App and our online coaching service to give elite players access to the highest quality off-ice training they deserve.

This makes us different in a few ways:

  1. We’re built for hockey players. While there’s plenty of fitness coaches and programs online, our mission is to specifically enhance and optimize on-ice performance.
  2. You’re accessing a program that’s specifically created to address your individual development and performance needs. While we do offer traditional pre-created programs, our online coaching service offers completely individualized programs.
  3. We’re offer a coaching-driven service. We don’t just send you a program once a month. We also provide access to a Strength & Conditioning Coach to support you, monitor your development, and optimize your off-ice training to get your best performance.
  4. We’re a sports tech company. This means that we’re collecting and analyzing your training data to ensure your off-ice training is constantly optimized to your needs. This also means we’re collecting training data from hundreds of hockey players to be consistently refining our training protocols and get the most out of our players.




How Individualized or Custom is Relentless Hockey’s Online Coaching?


We call this service “coaching” because it’s just that. It’s an on-going relationship and process that’s guided by your individual development needs.

While hockey players all have similar physical demands to thrive on-ice, each player has individual developmental needs they need to get to the next level. Our Online Coaching Program is built to allow for complete individualization, letting us build your program based on your specific goals and developmental needs.

Not only to do we create your program to address your individual weaknesses, we also tailoring your program to your lifestyle. Some of these example in the past have included:

  • A Junior player heading to the cottage for two weeks with no local gym or fitness equipment, but still needing to get in off-season workouts.
  • A professional player needing to suddenly change their off-season program to prepare for a last minute invite to Olympic trials three-weeks out.
  • A Junior player training with us in-season getting traded and suddenly having 10 games in 20 days.

Whether it be tailoring your program to your location/schedule in the off-season or integrating workouts into your in-season schedule – our Online Coaching is design to work with you to optimize your training and get the most out of each workout and program.




What’s the time commitment?


This is one of the primary benefits of our Online Coaching Service.

Because this a completely personalized to you, we’ll make things on our end optimized for you and your lifestyle. If you have crazy off-season job or can’t get into the gym often in season, we’ll adapt the program to meet your lifestyle.

While most of our players train 3-4 times in the off-season and 2-3 times in the off-season, we’ll optimize your workouts to make the most out of what you can do. We don’t limit our players to a certain number of workouts as part of their package, we’re committed to providing to program you need to achieve your training goals (even if this means more work for us!).




The Relentless Hockey’s Online Coaching seems expensive, can you explain the cost?


We’ll start by saying that we’re completely upfront with our pricing, no upsells, hidden costs, or intentional limitations, we – we deliver a best-in-class premium coaching service.

With so many discount trainers and free information online, we understand that our online coaching seems like a premium to pay for training. But we feel that with the level of individualized and attention to detail, we’re proud that the value of this service far exceeds the price.

For the price of 2-3 personal training sessions from most Personal Trainers, you’re able to work with a proven and industry-leading Strength and Conditioning Coach that elite and professional hockey players trust with their performance.

It’s also important to note for our international clients that because we’re proudly a Canadian company, all our services and products are sold in CAD and include Ontario’s 13% sales tax.




Is there a minimum age for Relentless Hockey Online Training?


Yes, we don’t offer our online programming for players under the age of 14 (sorry – this is non-negotiable).

We feel that, for the sake of athletic development, this age is best served with high quality, hands on, in-person training. If you’re looking for training for a player under 14, we can gladly connect you with someone we trust with youth hockey development in your area.




Do I need specific equipment or gym access for my program?


Not necessarily.

Ideally, you’ll have access to a gym for the duration of your program – but it doesn’t need to be fancy.

While an athlete-focused training center will typically offer more tools (prowlers, bands, turf, etc.), many of our athletes use the local commercial, school, or community gym. These gyms will give you all the equipment you need to get the most out of your program.

Being a truly custom service, we craft your program to what you have available. We’ve had players who use garage gyms, or who are at a cottage all summer without a local gym nearby, or most recently a pro in Germany with access to only a hotel gym.




How do I have access my workouts?


We built this the Relentless Hockey App and our digital training platform so that players have 24-hour access to their workouts anywhere in the world.

Many pro/university teams send players a PDF program to print off, take to the gym (most of the time), and fill out, and then scan at the end of the phase and send back to the coach back so that they could monitor their progress.

While you can still print out our workouts, our goal was to create a tech solution that would not only eliminate this clumsy process, but also serve our players better with features like coach messaging, workout tracking, and in-app videos – all while giving us advanced data collection and monitoring.




Is it worth it to use Relentless Hockey in-season? What’s the benefit?


One of the primary motivations for building the Relentless Hockey App was to continue to monitor and optimize the training of our players that were away playing junior or pro overseas.

While some teams are committed to off-ice training and have a Strength & Conditioning Coach on staff, we found that a lot of the teams our players were going to (from Junior A to European Pro) were being just didn’t have access to a Strength Coach that could take the time to monitor their training or didn’t have access to off-ice training at all and were missing structured Strength & Conditioning programming that elite hockey players need to optimize performance.

We feel our Online Coaching Service is more beneficial for players in-season, when it’s essential to stay healthy and be performing your best. While we still focus on maintaining strength and power, we also place a greater emphasis on addressing asymmetries and mobility restrictions that occur within a hockey season.

This doesn’t mean we stop focusing on performance enhancement or development – workouts are typically reduced (from 4-5 to 2-3, depending on your schedule), and we add “active recovery” workouts that are low stress and focus on muscle activation and mobility to keep players healthy, mobile, and performing optimally.




What if I don’t know an exercise or the proper technique?


It’s likely that if you’ve worked a Strength Coach in the past, you’ve seen several of the exercises we use. But with our database of over 250 exercises, even a veteran will likely have some exercises in their program that’s new.

We’ve built video directly into the Relentless Hockey App so that you have access to a demonstration for each exercise in your program. For the more complicated exercises, these videos will be in-depth tutorials with Kyle Kokotailo teaching to you the proper movements and technique.

If you’re still uncomfortable with an exercise, you’re always more than welcome to message us through the app and we can provide more details, watch a video of your form, or change out exercises.
